From 0 to 5000 paid users in 14 months

In the Netherlands, over 20% of primary school students do not achieve the desired proficiency in math and language skills. To address this issue, Studira was launched as a standalone brand, aiming to help students in groups 6, 7, and 8 improve their math and grammar abilities through an adaptive and engaging learning platform.

The goal

Prove product-market fit by acquiring paying users and validating parental willingness to pay.

Leading KPI’s

  • New Acquired Users
  • Cost per Install
  • Retention Rate (D1/D7/D30)
  • User activation rate

Results

  • 5,000 paid subscribers within 14 months
  • 90% trial-to-paid conversion rate
  • a clearly defined message after multiple tests with different ad communication
  • a steady drop in CPA month over month as campaigns and targeting improved

The approach

Studira’s growth strategy focused on paid digital channels, primarily Google Ads and Meta Ads. Meta outperformed other channels after being optimized through a strategic partnership, where external partners handled most of the creative execution. This setup allowed for fast iteration and scaling.

To maximize the trial-to-paid conversion rate, we ran A/B tests on the checkout process. The biggest win was a straightforward, trust-building message: parents were told at checkout that they’d receive a reminder three days before their trial ended, ensuring they wouldn’t be charged unexpectedly. This small tweak led to an exceptionally high 90% conversion rate.

We also tested different ad communication and refined the message based on performance, leading to a clear, effective positioning. On top of that, continuous A/B testing and SEO optimizations helped improve landing page performance and drive efficient trial signups.

As the campaigns scaled, we optimized targeting and creative, leading to a consistent decline in CPA month over month.

After 14 months, Studira had proven its business case and product-market fit. With a strong subscriber base and a model that worked, it was integrated into Squla as part of Futurewhiz’s core offering.
